HOLYOKE, Mass., June 27th, 2023 – Clean Crop Technologies (“Clean Crop”) was honored by MassHire, a statewide network devoted to building a better future for jobseekers and businesses, for their positive contributions to the lives of their employees and the entire Holyoke community. On June 27, local and regional leaders gathered for the first annual Employer Appreciation Breakfast to recognize Hampden County and Franklin County employers for their commitment to the development of meaningful work and sustainable growth throughout the region.

The event and award were presented by MassHire Holyoke’s Pillars of the Community Workforce (PCW), an initiative funded by the Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development’s Community Empowerment and Reinvestment Grant Program.

“Working with MassHire to recognize our manufacturers in the city of Holyoke is always an honor, and we’re proud to see new companies like Clean Crop establishing themselves here.” said Aaron Vega, Director Office of Planning and Economic Development. “We have a rich history of manufacturing in Holyoke, and look forward to supporting companies like Clean Crop to continue that history.”

Clean Crop is an electric innovation company, specializing in food and agriculture solutions at an industrial scale. Using their cutting-edge Clean Current technology to break down the microbes that cause most foods to go to waste while leaving the integrity of the food product intact, Clean Crop aims to get more food on people’s plates and ensure that everyone has access to safe, nutritious, and affordable food.

They’ve been based in the Pioneer Valley of Massachusetts since 2019 and in Holyoke since 2021.

While they tackle food waste on a global scale, Clean Crop is dedicated to making an impact locally. Since their inception, they have created over 23 local, full-time jobs with competitive salary and benefits in addition to making a significant economic contribution to local ventures.

Holyoke is home to their 14,000 square foot facility that includes a full fabrication space, wet lab and R&D labs, and a recently commercialized fee-for-service seed treatment facility. To date, they have deployed over $425,000 in support to local vendors in the region, including leasehold improvements, machinery & equipment, and R&D, among other operational needs.

“By relocating our organization to Holyoke, we gained the much-needed space to scale up our operations, while also benefiting from local support to recruit a diverse and talented team of professionals spanning engineering, science, and generalist domains.” says Dan White, Co-Founder and CEO of Clean Crop Technologies.
