Scale for ClimateTech (S4C) announces its 5th Cohort, advancing its mission of supporting growth-stage companies in scaling their climate tech hardware innovations.
NEW YORK – MARCH 28, 2024 – Scale For ClimateTech (S4C), a program administered by SecondMuse and NextCorps proudly announces the launch of its 5th Cohort. Scalable hardware companies are the engines of technology commercialization, job creation, and economic growth in New York State, yet in many cases, these promising companies encounter challenges navigating the complexities of manufacturing and bringing physical products to market. S4C, supported by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) focuses on helping climate technology (climate tech) companies reduce barriers to successfully produce products by overcoming manufacturing challenges while advancing New York State’s climate and clean energy goals and stimulating job growth in the manufacturing sector.
The eighteen innovators joining the 2024 Cohort 5 are: Voltpost, Celadyne Technologies Inc, TK Fabricate, AeroShield Materials, Inc., MicroEra Power, Inc., Carbon To Stone, Swobbee GmbH, 1S1 ENERGY, INC., Floe Inc, Mitico, Volexion, Inc., CarbonBridge Inc., Cancrie Inc, Kit Switch, Vycarb, Clean Crop Technologies, REPWR, and GenH.
Throughout the S4C program, each innovator will receive specialized assistance tailored to guide them through their manufacturing journey. This support encompasses technical assistance, from the prototype phase to manufacturing development. Additionally, participants will receive educational resources to aid in navigating time-sensitive critical decisions throughout the manufacturing process. The program will also provide the innovators direct access to a dedicated supplier network within New York State, fostering local collaborations and resource utilization.
Shai Fogelson, Interim Director at Scale For ClimateTech shares, “We’re thrilled about the latest iteration of the S4C program. The innovators chosen for the 2023-24 Cohort have shown their dedication to driving meaningful change in reducing GHG emissions. As we join forces with our cohort, advisory board members, and subject matter experts, we anticipate groundbreaking advancements that will bolster New York State, and more broadly, global efforts in tackling climate challenges.”
Successful past innovators supported by S4C include Urban Energy, a New York City-based startup that joined Scale For ClimateTech in 2020 to advance a modular solar canopy system, which installs solar panels on a diverse array of rooftops in an urban environment. Originally envisioning a steel-based design for the product offering, the company, guided by its accountability board, adapted, and shifted to aluminum. This change not only resulted in a lighter product but an easier installation. By program completion, the company had begun the setup and planning stage for 29 building installations.
Richard Bourgeois, Program Manager for Technology to Market, NYSERDA said,
“Scale For ClimateTech connects innovative companies with the manufacturing resources and expert guidance they need to bring the latest climate tech products and solutions to market. This program is a key component of NYSERDA’s efforts to help companies overcome commercialization challenges and successfully grow their business as part of New York’s green economy.”
